Não Há Milagre Sem Sacrifício

Thiago Reinaldo Shines at IBJJF Chicago Summer Open

This past weekend, I had the privilege of competing in the prestigious IBJJF Chicago Summer Open, an event renowned for bringing together some of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners from around the world. As a representative of Gracie Barra Stafford, it was an exciting opportunity to showcase the skills and techniques we’ve meticulously developed in our training.

In the weight class division, I faced two formidable opponents. Each match, consequently, was a test of strategy, endurance, and technical prowess. After two intense bouts, I secured a second-place finish in my category. While the final was a challenging encounter, it provided valuable insights into areas for further growth and improvement.

Moving on to the absolute division, the competition was equally demanding. I stepped onto the mats for three grueling matches. I managed to secure victories in the first two through decisive submissions—a well-executed cross choke from mount and a clock choke. Then, in the final match of the absolute division, I went up against a familiar opponent from my weight class. This time, the outcome was different as I secured the win by points, showcasing the progress and adaptability developed over time.

Throughout the competition, I was reminded of the importance of hard work, perseverance, and the support of a dedicated team. Therefore, I am deeply grateful to God for the health and strength that enabled me to compete at such a high level. My heartfelt thanks go out to my wife and children for their unwavering support and encouragement. Their presence and belief in my journey mean the world to me.

Additionally, I want to extend my gratitude to Professor Carlos, Jr., and Adilson for their exceptional coaching and guidance. Their expertise and motivation played a crucial role in my preparation and performance during the event.

Overall, the IBJJF Chicago Summer Open was a remarkable experience, reflecting the spirit and dedication of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community. As we continue to train and compete, I look forward to embracing new challenges and achieving further milestones. Stay tuned for more updates and join us as we pursue excellence both on and off the mats.

Looking ahead, my next major competition will be the IBJJF Master World Championship, which will take place at the end of August. This prestigious event will gather top competitors from around the globe, and I am excited to put my skills to the test once again. Stay tuned for updates and join us as we prepare for this exciting challenge.
