01 · The daily work
Leadership lives in the details.
The work of a professor happens before, during, and after instruction. Thiago watches the room, meets students where they are, corrects the small details, and helps each person understand what their next step should be.
Some students arrive looking for confidence. Others want competition, fitness, discipline, or a place for their family to grow. The responsibility is to recognize that goal and help the student build toward it.

Standards are taught by example.
Thiago brings decades of training, teaching, and competition into a room where every student deserves clear instruction and honest attention. Technique matters, but so do consistency, respect, preparation, and the way people treat one another.

03 · The method
Clear technique. A reason behind every detail.
Thiago teaches connected ideas rather than isolated movements. Students learn what the position is solving, what reaction to expect, and how the next decision changes as resistance increases.

04 · Built by families
Before the students arrived, two families built the room.
Thiago met Jamie Leland and her family in 2018. A shared vision became a physical commitment. Flooring was removed, interior walls were opened, paint went up, and mats went in. Thiago's family and the Leland family worked side by side to prepare the academy for its first students.
Gracie Barra Stafford held its first classes on December 15, 2018. Jamie, then a blue belt, later became Professor Jamie and Thiago's first female black belt. Today they lead together as partners.
05 · Family and community
A place where people know they belong.
Jiu Jitsu becomes more powerful when the academy feels like a community. Children learn beside parents. New students train beside experienced practitioners. Competitors return from events with lessons that strengthen the whole room.
Belonging grows in the moments around training: a teammate offering encouragement, families supporting one another, and students celebrating each other's progress. At Gracie Barra Stafford, the goal is for every student to feel welcomed, supported, and part of something shared.
